Responses to progressive exercise in subjects with chronic dyspnea and inspiratory muscle weakness

Danilo C. Berton et al.

Summary: Patients with inspiratory muscle weakness (IMW) without concomitant cardiorespiratory or neuromuscular diseases exhibited reduced aerobic capacity, increased breathing frequency, reduced inspiratory capacity during exercise, and preserved oxygen exchange. These findings suggest the potential presence of IMW in cases of unexplained exertional dyspnea.
