Sedimentological analysis and reservoir quality of the early Cenomanian transgressive sandstones, northern Western desert, Egypt

S. S. Selim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the depositional models of transgressive sandstone reservoirs within the Bahariya Formation in Egypt's Shushan Basin. Detailed reservoir characterization revealed that the studied reservoir consists of a mixed siliciclastic-carbonate transgressive estuarine-shelf succession, showing a shift from tidal-dominated to wave-dominated estuaries/bays. The reservoir properties exhibit significant variation according to the facies assemblages, with different types of sedimentary structures and diagenetic processes influencing reservoir quality.
