The biomechanics of freestyle and butterfly turn technique in elite swimmers

Emily Nicol et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify key biomechanical parameters influencing elite swimmers' freestyle and butterfly turn time. It was found that no individual parameter strongly predicted turn performance, suggesting a holistic approach should be taken to improve turn performance. Developing training programs targeting multiple biomechanical parameters rather than focusing on a single parameter is recommended to maximize improvement in turn performance.
