Safety and immunogenicity of an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, BBIBP-CorV: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 1/2 trial

Shengli Xia et al.

Summary: The inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, BBIBP-CorV, demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in two age groups. Humoral responses against SARS-CoV-2 were induced in all vaccine recipients by day 42. A two-dose immunisation with 4 mu g vaccine on days 0 and 21 or days 0 and 28 achieved higher neutralising antibody titres compared to other dosing schedules.

Summary: This report presents a case of a 5-year-old male with SARS-CoV-2 associated MIS-C requiring ECMO support for respiratory failure and shock. Despite recovery of cardiac function during the clinical course, the patient ultimately suffered a middle cerebral artery infarct and left frontal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Summary: SARS-CoV-2 infection has been linked to various hematologic abnormalities, with a notably high incidence of venous thromboembolism, including cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (cVST) which has been less commonly reported in association with COVID-19 and tends to occur more frequently in women and young individuals.
