This study conducted optical analysis on Eu3+ doped CaAl2Si2O8 synthesized by solution combustion method at 500 degrees C. The results show its potential application as a red emitting element for White LEDs based on photoluminescence study.
This study presents the optical study of Eu3+ doped CaAl2Si2O8 synthesized at 500 degrees C by solution combustion method. Photoluminescence study of CaAl2Si2O8:Eu(3+)shows excitation at 395 nm and 466 nm due to F-4(9/2)-> H-6(15/2) and F-4(9/2)-> H-6(13/2) transitions respectively, keeping excitation constant at 340 nm. Further phosphor is characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS analysis to study its phase clarity, surface structure and elemental investigation. The CIE coordinates (0.447,0.407) show its uses as a red element for White LEDs. TL intensity was measured for different gamma-ray exposure and it is found that the TL intensity is peak at 1189 Gy. ML intensity increases with increasing value of impact height of the piston and gamma ray doses, which indicates the sample as a good LED and dosimetry material.
