ML-SIM: universal reconstruction of structured illumination microscopy images using transfer learning

Charles N. Christensen et al.

Summary: ML-SIM is a versatile reconstruction method that utilizes transfer learning to obtain a parameter-free model with generalizability and robustness. Trained on simulated images to reflect challenging imaging conditions, it does not require experimental data and can be adapted efficiently to any specific experimental SIM implementation. Its reconstruction of a SIM stack in less than 200 ms on a modern GPU enables real-time imaging applications, demonstrating advantages in terms of generality and noise robustness compared to current state-of-the-art SIM reconstruction methods.
