Insight into the effect of particle size distribution differences on the antibacterial activity of carbon dots

Baohong Sun et al.

Summary: This study separated carbon dots (CDs) derived from chlorhexidine gluconate into three groups with different particle sizes and found that the antibacterial activity increases as the size of the CDs decreases. This phenomenon may stem from the differences in cellular uptake and distribution of CDs in the plasma membrane, as well as the restriction between the polar functional group and DNA molecule.
