The method of annealing of diamonds at high temperature in hydrogen atmosphere is applied to nitrogen containing synthetic diamonds. Spectroscopic data obtained on the diamonds before and after treatment unambiguously shows that the heating at temperatures 1800 degrees C and above may result in considerable aggregation of dispersed nitrogen in synthetic diamonds and convert them from type Ib into type IaA.
