Grinding force and surface quality in creep feed profile grinding of turbine blade root of nickel-based superalloy with microcrystalline alumina abrasive wheels

Summary: Creep feed profile grinding of single crystal nickel-based superalloy fir-tree blade root forms was conducted using microcrystalline alumina abrasive wheels in this study. The grinding force was significantly influenced by the competition between grinding parameters and workpiece profile, leading to differences in surface quality.

Performance evaluation of creep feed grinding of γ-TiAl intermetallics with electroplated diamond wheels

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of creep feed grinding gamma-TiAl intermetallic using electroplated diamond wheels, finding that the diamond wheels produced better grinding results compared to electroplated CBN wheels. The surface integrity was characterized at different levels of material removal rate, and it was observed that the poor ductility of the material had a marginal effect on surface integrity. Additionally, operating parameters led to the formation of a deformation layer and a work-hardened layer, with compressive residual stress and good wheel sharpness during the grinding process.

Study on the oxidation of WC-Co cemented carbide under different conditions

Summary: This paper investigates the oxidation of WC-Co cemented carbide under both isothermally and laser irradiation conditions, and reveals that the microstructures of oxide layer in laser-induced oxidation are very different to isothermal oxidation. The oxide layer in laser-induced oxidation shows more porous structures and a mountain shape due to the Gaussian profile of pulsed laser beam. The oxygen content curve in laser-induced oxidation increases rapidly at the beginning and then stabilizes with increasing laser power.
