Endothelium-independent vasorelaxant effect of Asphodelus tenuifolius Cav. via inhibition of myosin light chain kinase activity in the porcine coronary artery

Waqas Younis et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Asphodelus tenuifolius reduces blood pressure and improves endothelial function by producing an endothelium-independent relaxation in the porcine coronary artery through inhibition of calcium-induced contractions. This effect appears to be downstream of calcium influx, possibly through inhibition of myosin light chain kinase. Future studies will focus on identifying the active compounds responsible for this response.
