Does globalization matter for ecological footprint in Turkey? Evidence from dual adjustment approach

Dervis Kirikkaleli et al.

Summary: By using a dual adjustment approach, this study finds that globalization has a positive long-term impact on Turkey's ecological footprint, while trade openness reduces the footprint in the short term, and GDP growth negatively affects it in both the short and long term. The study suggests that policies should be implemented to encourage energy consumers to shift towards renewable energy and to diversify the overall energy mix towards renewable sources.

Investigating the Causal Linkage Among Economic Growth, Energy Consumption and CO2 Emissions in Thailand: An Application of the Wavelet Coherence Approach

Tomiwa Sunday Adebayo et al.

Summary: The study explores the causal relationship between CO2 emissions, economic growth and energy consumption in Thailand using wavelet coherence, Granger causality and Toda-Yamamoto techniques. Findings show that changes in economic growth lead to changes in CO2 emissions, there is a bidirectional causality between CO2 emissions and energy consumption, and a positive correlation between CO2 emissions and energy usage, as well as between GDP growth and CO2 emissions in Thailand between 1971 and 2018. Policy recommendations include enhancing energy efficiency programs to reduce unnecessary energy waste.

Do renewable energy consumption and financial development matter for environmental sustainability? New global evidence

Dervis Kirikkaleli et al.

Summary: This study examines the long-term effects of financial development and renewable energy consumption on environmental sustainability within the global framework, finding that both factors have a significant positive impact on environmental sustainability in the long run, while economic growth may lead to increased carbon emissions globally. The study recommends that global policymakers consider the roles of renewable energy and financial development in order to improve environmental quality by implementing energy policy reforms in both developed and developing countries.

Modeling CO2 emissions in South Africa: empirical evidence from ARDL based bounds and wavelet coherence techniques

Tomiwa Sunday Adebayo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interconnection between financial development, real growth, urbanization, and CO2 emissions in South Africa. The findings suggest a positive impact of financial development on CO2 emissions, a negative relationship between urbanization and CO2 emissions, and a positive interaction between real growth and CO2 emissions. The results from the wavelet coherence approach support the ARDL long-term estimate and provide basis for recommendations.

Nexus between Environmental Tax, Economic Growth, Energy Consumption, and Carbon Dioxide Emissions: Evidence from China, Finland, and Malaysia Based on a Panel-ARDL Approach

Pinglin He et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between environmental tax, economic growth, energy consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions using panel ARDL models in China, Finland, and Malaysia. It found an N-shaped relationship between carbon dioxide emissions and GDP, and confirmed the existence of the double dividend effect of environmental tax in the long run. The evidence from Finland and Malaysia on environmental taxes could provide valuable references for other developing countries, including China.
