SARS-CoV-2 in Rural Latin America. A Population-based Study in Coastal Ecuador

Oscar H. Del Brutto et al.

Summary: The study found that 45% of rural Ecuadorian adults tested positive for antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, with 77% of them showing compatible clinical manifestations. Seropositivity was associated with the use of open latrines, indicating the potential role of fecal-oral transmission in the spread of the virus in rural Latin America.
