In silico study on the effects of carbonyl groups on chemical equilibrium of reactions with a polar product occurring under confinement in pores of activated carbons

Sylwester Furmaniak et al.

Summary: This study presented the results of reactive Monte Carlo studies on the influence of oxygen surface groups on the equilibria of reactions in pores of activated carbons. It was found that oxidation of carbon surface significantly increases the amount of formed product, especially when the product is quite polar. Additionally, a rapid non-linear increase in the product amount in the pores is observed when the polarity of the product exceeds a certain value.
