Commercial Serology Assays Predict Neutralization Activity against SARS-CoV-2

Raymond T. Suhandynata et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that three clinical serology assays positively correlate with SARS-CoV-2 neutralization activity observed in patients with COVID-19. All patients confirmed to be SARS-CoV-2 positive by PCR develop neutralizing antibodies. The agreement between the Diazyme IgG assay alone and the neutralization assay is 50.6%, while combining the Diazyme IgG assay with either the Roche or Abbott platforms increased the agreement to 79.2% and 78.4%, respectively.

Comparative Performance of Five Commercially Available Serologic Assays To Detect Antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 and Identify Individuals with High Neutralizing Titers

Eshan U. Patel et al.

Summary: Accurate serological assays are crucial for detecting SARS-CoV-2 antibodies, but commercial EIAs may not always accurately detect high nAb titers in individuals, indicating the limitations of current diagnostic methods for COVID-19 convalescent plasma donation.
