Persistent luminescence-polypyrrole nanocomposite for dual-modal imaging and photothermal therapy of mammary cancer

Summary: Multifunctional nanocomposites with imaging and high-performance therapeutic properties are gaining interest in precision clinical anticancer treatment. We introduced a novel persistent luminescence-polypyrrole nanocomposite for photoacoustic/persistent luminescence dual-modal imaging guided photothermal therapy, which showed excellent biocompatibility, long-lasting NIR emitting, high-contrast PA signals, strong NIR absorbance, and remarkable photothermal conversion capability for imaging-guided antitumor therapy. Our work highlights the potential of the dual-functional core-shell nanocomposite as a feasible theranostic nanoplatform for cancer diagnosis and therapy.
