By investigating the TBP-FeCl3 extraction system, it was found that the behavior of cations Li+, Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ in the extraction process varies, with LiCl having the strongest impact on P=O in TBP and FeCl4- being more readily formed in CaCl2 solution. Theoretical calculations and experiments were conducted to determine the extraction rules of mental ions and their interactions in the extraction process.
The extraction rules of mental ions in salt lake brine by TBP-FeCl3 extraction system were investigated. The theoretical calculations and experiments were conducted in order to explicit the behavior of cations Li+ , Na+ , K+ , Mg2+ and Ca2+ in extraction process. The results of theoretical calculations indicated the bond length of M-Cl and M-O in extraction complexes was K+ > Na+ > Li+. The results of experiments suggested LiCl had much stronger effect on P=O in TBP than NaCl and KCl and the form of FeCl4- was easier in CaCl2 solution than MgCl2 under the same concentration.
