Recent progress in flapping wings for micro aerial vehicle applications

Naeem Haider et al.

Summary: Micro aerial vehicles using flapping wings offer advantages of high thrust, agility, and maneuverability for military and commercial applications. Significant effects on performance are seen with kinematic variables, such as high flap amplitude and pitch rotation for generating strong leading-edge vortex. Additionally, wing shape, configuration, and structural flexibility play a key role in performance.
