RaacLogo: a new sequence logo generator by using reduced amino acid clusters

Lei Zheng et al.

Summary: RaacLogo is a new sequence logo generator that can easily generate customized simplified logos for users by using reduced amino acid alphabets. The website provides 74 types of reduced amino acid alphabets, and a two-dimensional selector is proposed for easily selecting desired reduced amino acid clusters. It is anticipated that RaacLogo web server will play a more high-potential roles in protein sequence alignment, topological estimation and protein design experiments.

Multi-substrate selectivity based on key loops and non-homologous domains: new insight into ALKBH family

Baofang Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the multi-substrate selectivity of the ALKBH demethylase family from the perspective of sequence and structural evolution. The construction of phylogenetic tree and comparison of key loops and non-homologous domains show that paralogs with close evolutionary relationships have similar domain compositions, indicating that variations in key loops lead to differences in substrate affinity.

Design powerful predictor for mRNA subcellular location prediction in Homo sapiens

Zhao-Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: The study obtained the optimal nonamer composition using binomial distribution and one-way analysis of variance, and developed a support vector machine predictor to identify mRNA subcellular localization with an accuracy of 90.12% for Homo sapiens. This predictor may be useful for studying mRNA localization mechanisms and translocation strategies.
