Surface and interface characteristics of hydrophobic lignin derivatives in solvents and films

Norah Alwadani et al.

Summary: In this study, lignin was modified via methylation and grafting with dodecyl glycidyl ether to improve its hydrophobicity, reducing water uptake and potentially making it more attractive for applications in coating and packaging. Analyses showed successful reduction in lignin dissolution in water and fundamental water absorption behavior by the films.
