A palladium-catalyzed cascade carbonylative/cyclization reaction for the synthesis of 2-(trifluoromethyl)quinazolin-4(3H)-ones has been achieved. The transformation utilizes readily available 2-iodoanilines and trifluoroacetimidoyl chlorides as the starting reagents, enabling a simple and convenient access to pharmaceutically significant quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives.
