Effect of Ce Addition on the Tribological Behavior of ZK60 Mg-Alloy

Summary: The addition of Ce element can significantly improve the microstructure of ZK60 alloy, reducing grain size and increasing the total fraction of precipitates, thereby enhancing the mechanical properties of the alloy. Ce element can also improve the wear resistance of the alloy, enhancing wear resistance under low load conditions and providing a protective oxide layer under high load conditions. However, under severe oxidation conditions, the microstructural evolutions caused by Ce addition do not contribute to the enhancement of wear resistance.
