Predicting initial base curve of the rigid contact lenses according to Javal keratometry findings in patients with keratoconus

Fereshte Berjandy et al.

Summary: This study aimed to find the appropriate correlation between the base curve of RGP contact lenses and manual keratometry findings in Iranian patients with keratoconus, in order to simplify the fitting process, reduce time, and lower costs. The study concluded with an equation for the correlation between BC and keratometry values, providing advantages such as simplifying the fitting process, reducing examination time, lowering costs, and increasing confidence in both examiners and patients. Through the use of a specific trial set with fixed parameters, the study also highlighted the ease of lens fitting in remote areas where advanced devices are not readily available.
