Acute myocardial infarction and large coronary thrombosis in a patient with COVID-19

Delio Tedeschi et al.

Summary: This case report highlights a rare complication of acute myocardial infarction in a 60-year-old male patient with COVID-19, even in the absence of prior cardiac history or risk factors. The presence of high levels of inflammatory mediators in COVID-19 patients may lead to severe coronary thrombosis that is sometimes unresponsive to optimal pharmacological and mechanical treatments.
