The benefits of live court date reminder phone calls during pretrial case processing

Russell Ferri

Summary: The effectiveness of court date reminders on failure to appear (FTA) was tested in this study, along with their effectiveness based on demographics and case characteristics. The results showed that reminders reduced the FTA rate by 37%, and the timing of the reminders was not important. People of color and participants with a longer time between the arrest and the arraignment benefited more from the reminders.
