The work describes the refractive index sensor which can be used particularly for tuberculosis blood samples. The possibility of this approach is pertained by the ring core periodic structure of photonic crystal (PC) waveguide whose layer is properly chosen by the material such as layer A: TiO2, layer B: SiO2. Further, the hollow cavity is surrounded by silicon material to avoid the change in physical and chemical properties of real samples. In addition, refractive index of liquid form of sensing samples is experimentally measured by the refractometric principle. The experimentally verified data has applied in the PC to explore the refractive senor for biosensing applications. The sensitivity is numerically investigated under proper optimization of PC waveguide and the value is reported as 700 nm/RIU.
