Wildfires are increasingly common and projected to worsen with climate change. Health consequences include burns and mental health effects, as well as risks from air pollutants in smoke. Cutting carbon emissions to limit the global temperature increase to 2.0 degrees C or 1.5 degrees C above the preindustrial level would markedly reduce wildfire risks.
