Iron-based bimetal oxides (NiO/NiFe2O4) have shown excellent electrochemical properties as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). A facile method for the synthesis of NiO/NiFe2O4 nanocubes via Prussian blue (PB) as self-sacrificial templates is proposed. The NiO/NiFe2O4 nanocubes were tested as the anode materials of LIBs, which shown outstanding rate capability and long cycling performance. The NiO/NiFe2O4 electrode has shown a high specific capacity (956 mA h g(-1) at 0.1 A g(-1) after 100 cycles, and 787 mA h g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1) after 500 cycles), and superior rate capability (610 mA h g(-1) even at 1 A g(-1) after 40 cycles). The NiO/NiFe2O4 nanocubes have shown excellent electrochemical properties, which are mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of bimetal and hollow structure. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V.
