The mechanical properties of poroelastic road surface (PERS) govern road performance and service life. The objective of this research was to evaluate mechanical properties of PERS mixtures with nine different material compositions by laboratory tests and determine the effect of material compositions. Dynamic moduli and phase angles of PERS mixtures with different contents of rubber particle were compared with those of stone mastic asphalt (SMA). Also, high- and low-temperature stability and water susceptibility of PERS mixtures were measured and compared. The impact of material composition on the performance of PERS mixtures was determined. The results showed that PERS mixtures performed much better than the SMA mixture in all respects except for water susceptibility. The rubber particle content significantly affected mechanical properties of PERS mixtures, which determined the polyurethane content needed. The high air void of PERS mixtures reduced water susceptibility noticeably. The PERS mixture with proper material composition exhibited good balanced performance, which hopefully would lead to pavement with a long life.
