Development and Psychometric Testing of the Mealtime Engagement Scale in Direct Care Providers of Nursing Home Residents With Dementia

Wen Liu et al.

Summary: The study developed and tested the Mealtime Engagement Scale (MES), which showed good internal consistency, interrater reliability, and validity. The MES had adequate content validity, strong concurrent validity with the Relational Behavior Scale (RBS), and fair convergent validity with the Mealtime Relational Care Checklist (M-RCC). Further testing with diverse samples in various care settings is needed to gather more psychometric evidence.
