Improved Mg-Al-Zn Magnesium Alloys Produced by High Energy Milling and Hot Sintering

Y. Galindez et al.

Summary: The effect of high-energy milling on powders morphology, chemical composition, crystallite size, and compaction of different powder mixtures was studied. The milling process induced changes in both the alpha-Mg and the beta-Mg17Al12 phases, leading to a decrease in crystallite size. After compaction and thermal treatment, the relative densities and hardness of the samples increased significantly.
