We established a PCR-RFLP analysis targeting the R77H mutation in the Tyrgene, as a more effective genotyping method to identify carriers (C/c) with the albino allele and agouti phenotypes. This breeding system targeting the R77H site serves as a useful cue for detecting C/c carriers with the agouti phenotype and facilitates obtaining albinos by mating agouti-phenotype carriers.

Our breeding system, which targets the R77H site, is a useful cue for detecting C/c carriers with the agouti-phenotype and helps us to obtain albinos by mating agouti-phenotype carriers.
