The effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on corticospinal and cortico-cortical excitability and response variability: Conventional versus high-definition montages

Summary: This study compared the effects of conventional and high-definition transcranial direct current stimulation on corticospinal excitability, cortico-cortical excitability and intra-individual variability under conventional and HD electrode montages. The results indicated that the two electrode montages had little effect on corticospinal excitability, but there was a significant difference in HD c-tDCS at 0 minutes post-stimulation. Conventional tDCS was more effective at reducing intra-individual variability compared to HD-tDCS.
