An experimental analysis of the end-notched flexure composite laminates beams with elastic couplings

Jakub Rzeczkowski

Summary: This experimental study focused on the behavior of composite beams with elastic couplings in the end-notched flexure test, testing carbon/epoxy laminates with specific stacking sequences and different delamination interfaces. The results revealed that elastic couplings influenced intense bridging phenomena and contributed to a more extensive fracture process zone and mode III in total delamination resistance. The standardized ENF procedure can still be applied to determine the fracture toughness of laminates with elastic couplings, with the assistance of additional data reduction schemes and techniques or numerical analysis.
