Experimental and Modeling Studies on Sorption Behaviour of 133Ba(II) on Fe-Montmorillonite Clay Minerals

Summary: The study investigated the sorption behavior of Ba(II) on Fe(II)-Mt and Fe(III)-Mt, finding that ion exchange is the dominant sorption mode on Fe-Mt with linear adsorption isotherms. The released Fe from Fe(III)-Mt was much lower compared to Fe(II)-Mt. Modeling of Ba(II) sorption profiles on Fe-Mt and Na-Mt was carried out using FITEQL 4.0.
