Primary graft dysfunction attenuates improvements in health-related quality of life after lung transplantation, but not disability or depression

Nicholas A. Kolaitis et al.

Summary: Disability, depressive symptoms, and impaired health-related quality of life are common among patients with life-threatening respiratory compromise. Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) may attenuate improvements in patient-reported outcomes after lung transplantation, with patients experiencing improvements in various aspects of HRQL regardless of PGD severity. However, those with PGD Grade 3 showed lower improvement in generic-physical HRQL and health-utility compared to other participants. These findings highlight the ongoing impact of PGD on patient-reported outcomes post-transplantation and the need for further interventions.
