Composite films of PFO/PMMA with various PFO concentrations were prepared and studied for their optical properties. The segregation of PFO increased with doping concentration, while the absorption spectrum intensity, band gap values, Urbach energy values, and refractive index all showed changes with doping concentration, stabilizing around 1 wt% of PFO. This study demonstrates the impact of doping concentration on the optical properties of PFO/PMMA composite.
Composite films of PFO/PMMA with different PFO concentrations were prepared by solution casting method and studied for their optical properties. FESEM reveals that the PFO segregates with the increasing doping concentration. Absorption spectrum possesses two distinct bands peaking around 220 nm and 450 nm related to PFO and PMMA, respectively, whose intensity increases with doping percentage. Both direct and indirect band gap values obtained from Tauc plots decrease with doping concentration. The calculated Urbach energy values decrease with the doping concentration. The refractive index (both imaginary and real parts) increases with the doping concentration. All these values tend to stabilise around 1 wt% of PFO and do not show much variation beyond these. Present study demonstrates the effect of doping concentration on the optical properties of PFO/PMMA composite.
