This study developed a novel textile electrode that improves comfort and stability of electrical signal monitoring. Through testing and evaluation, the optimal performance textile electrode was determined. These comfortable electrodes provide important support for the future development of electrical impedance tomography in medical equipment.
This study aims to develop a novel wearable electrode which has better moisture comfort and improves the stability of electrical signal monitoring. The silver-plated filaments were chlorinated by the method of electrochemical deposition to enhance the potential stability of the textile electrode. Water-conducting polyester filament, cotton yarn, and silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrode filament were used for the double-layer electrodes weaving to make the sweat quickly absorbed. Eight textile electrodes were developed, which were tested for air permeability, moisture permeability, evaporation quick-drying, contact angle, and electrical impedance stability. The comprehensive performance of eight electrodes was evaluated by the fuzzy mathematics model. The results showed that the textile electrodes (the structure is the inter-warp junction, the inter weft is cotton yarn, and the weft tightness is 84%) have the best comprehensive performance. The development of comfortable electrodes has laid the foundation for the future development of electrical impedance tomography in the field of medical equipment.
