As a special electrochemiluminescence (ECL) system, the peroxydisulfate-oxygen (S2O82--O-2) system could avoid the degradation of luminescence in the process of detection or storage, but its ECL application is still limited because of lacking the suitable enhancer. Herein, a novel silver metal-organic gel (AgMOG) was synthesized by a one-step mixing approach and demonstrated to greatly enhance the ECL intensity of S2O82--O(2 )system. The possible enhancement mechanism was discussed in detail and ascribed to that the AgMOG could provide stable catalytic sites and improve the electron transfer rate to accelerate the electro-catalytic reduction of S2O82-. Then, the S2O82--O-2 system with AgMOG as enhancer was successfully applied to quantify cytochrome C (Cyt C). Under the optimized conditions, there is a good linear range from 2 nM to 10 nM (R-2 = 0.9912) with a detection limit of 0.96 nM (S/N =3). This research suggested the novel AgMOG could be an effective enhancer of S2O82--O-2 system, which was a great significance for developing the new functions of MOGs. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd.
