The paper describes the efficiency of the electromagnetic absorption and mechanical stability of the composites consisting of polyurethane matrix dispersion-armored with corundum grains (Al2O3). Microwave properties and reflection losses were measured in the 1-12 GHz frequency range. This frequency range attracts much attention due to the radar activity. The reflection coefficient was - 35 dB in the whole range. After that, the mechanical properties (ballistic resistance) were determined as a function of the thickness of this composite material. This type of material was found to have the potential to be used as a functional material with additional protective properties. Coexistence of the high-performance electromagnetic protection and well mechanical stability opens up broad perspectives for practical application for combined protection against electromagnetic influences and shock effects.
