Clinical validation of the novel HDAC6 radiotracer [18F]EKZ-001 in the human brain

Summary: HDAC6 is a cytoplasmic enzyme that modulates intracellular transport and protein quality control. Inhibiting HDAC6 deacetylase activity shows beneficial effects in disease models. This study evaluated the brain binding of [F-18]EKZ-001 in healthy adults, showing that it is safe for quantifying HDAC6 expression and that males have higher HDAC6 expression compared to females.
