Prediction of Knee Kinematics at the Time of Noncontact Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries Based on the Bone Bruises

Huijuan Shi et al.

Summary: Biomechanical risk factors associated with ACL injury are still inconclusive. Bone bruises identified post-ACL injury on MRI may represent the impact footprint, indicating changes in knee kinematics during injury.

In vivo femorotibial kinematics of medial-stabilized total knee arthroplasty correlates to post-operative clinical outcomes

Domenico Alesi et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the correlation between in vivo kinematics of MS-TKA and post-operative clinical scores. It was found that a medial pivot movement was present in about 70% of patients, and there was a correlation between the presence of medial pivot and higher post-operative scores, with significant positive correlation in sit-to-stand and negative correlation in lunge motor task.

ACL deficiency influences medio-lateral tibial alignment and knee varus-valgus during in vivo activities

Piero Agostinone et al.

Summary: ACL deficiency results in abnormal knee biomechanics during weight-bearing activities, characterized by increased varus angle and tibial medialization during single leg squat. This could lead to different force distribution on the tibial plateau, potentially explaining the higher risk of early osteoarthritis in ACL deficiency. This study suggests that safe activities used in ACL rehabilitation protocols are significantly altered in patients with ACL deficiency.
