Administration of Antioxidants in the Infertile Male: When it may have a Beneficial Effect?

Zsolt Kopa et al.

Summary: Antioxidant supplementation may protect sperms against oxidative stress, but excessive exposure can lead to reductive stress, affecting sperm function and embryo development. Studies on antioxidant treatment in male infertility reported improvements in sperm parameters, but also highlighted the uncertainties and biases in the results. There is a need for further research on the balance between oxidant and antioxidant systems to better understand their impact on fertility and potential health risks.
