The phase transformation of face-centered cubic austenite (fcc) to body-centered cubic (bcc) ferrite in duplex stainless steels during in situ solution annealing heat treatment was investigated by an imageaberration-corrected environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM). It was demonstrated that the mechanism of the phase transformation exists the nucleation and growth of ferrite in the austenite phase. Finally, the austenite segregated by ferrite due to the phase diffusion, and transformation along the (1 1 0) plane in layers by layers of crystallographic microstructure was observed.
