Formation process and variant selection of {11 (2) over bar2} twin pair (TP) in Ti was investigated by using quasi in-situ rolling treatment at cryogenic temperatures. Variants of {11 (2) over bar2} TP were found either develop along the same direction or reverse directions. Schmid law, geometrical compatibility factor (GCF) and grain misorientation were used for quantitative analysis. Schmid law is found more effective in predicting the variant selection than that of GCF. With the increase of parent grain misorienation, {11 (2) over bar2} TP becomes harder to generate because of lower GCF.
