A responsive luminescent MOF nanocomposite has been developed by postsynthetic incorporation of Eu3+ cations into a robust nano-crystalline framework. The resultant MOF nanocomposite can serve as a platform for recognizing aromatic VOCs with similar structures and physical properties based on an unprecedented dual-readout identification scheme.
