Here, we report on the synthesis of three novel lanthanide-metal organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) based on maleic hydrazide (MH), namely [Nd (MH)(3) (1), Sm (MH)(3) (2), Pr (MH)(2)center dot HCOOH (3)], (MH = maleic hydrazide). These complexes have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectra, elemental analyses, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). The single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal that all the three complexes exhibit 3D networks, complex 1 and complex 2 are isostructural. The electromagnetic wave absorption (EMWA) studies demonstrate that complexes 1-3 with special porous structures have good EMWA performance. A maximum reflection loss (RL) value of -33.01 dB, with an effective absorption bandwidth of 1.92 GHz can be obtained for complex 1 at a thickness of 5.5 mm. Meanwhile, for complex 2 and complex 3, the maximum reflection loss of -26.75 dB and -17.27 dB were obtained. Additionally, complexes 1-3 were tested for antibacterial activity. The results showed that all the tested complexes exhibit significant antibacterial properties; complex 3 has the strongest antibacterial activity against two tested pathogenic bacteria.
