In this study, triaminotriazine (TAT) functionalized graphene oxide (GO) namely TATGO composite was prepared by dispersing TAT into GO for nitrate (NO3-) and phosphate (PO43-) adsorption. Further, the TATGO composite was structurally modified using sodium alginate (Alg) to give the usable TATGO@Alg composite beads for NO3- and PO(4)(3- )adsorption. The synthesized TATGO@Alg composite beads was compared to their respective parent materials possess the enhanced sorption capacity GO of 51.83 and 58.46 mg g(-1) toward NO3- and PO43-. The prepared adsorbents were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) techniques. The parameters liable for the NO3- and PO43- adsorption process, such as contact time, pH, co-ions, adsorbent dosage, initial ions concentration, and temperature, were optimized under batch conditions. The adsorption kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were investigated for TATGO@Alg composite beads. The NO3- and PO43- removal mechanism of TATGO@Alg composite beads was discussed in detail. The field studies and regeneration of TATGO@Alg composite beads were also investigated.
