Herein, we design a CdS/TiO2/MS-SiO2 ternary composite photocatalyst by supporting TiO2 and CdS successively on the surface of SiO2 microspheres (MS-SiO2), where MS-SiO2 is used as the carrier. The structure and photocatalytic performance of the photocatalyst are studied. Moreover, we discover the effect of MS-SiO2 on the characteristics of CdS/TiO2 heterojunction. The results show that CdS/TiO2/MS-SiO2 is Z-scheme photocatalysts with excellent photocatalytic performance based on the carrier function of MS-SiO2. Under simulated sunlight, the degradation efficiency of rhodamine B and the reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) of CdS/TiO2/MS-SiO2 are also significantly better than CdS and CdS/TiO2. The excellent photocatalytic oxidation and reduction properties of CdS/TiO2/MS-SiO2 are consistent with its composition and structure.
