Based on Gray mapping, the properties of the autocorrelation sum of quadriphase Z-complementary pairs (QZCPs) are investigated. It is proved that both the real and imaginary parts of the sum equal zero modulo 2. Additionally, a novel construction that transforms binary ZCPs (BZCPs) into QZCPs is presented. The proposed construction can produce QZCPs, which are different to the ones from existing constructions, with the same zero-correlation-zone (ZCZ) width-length ratios (ZWLRs) as the employed BZCPs.
