Core-shell structured multifunctional nanoparticles, Fe3O4@SiO2@GdVO4:Eu3+, have been prepared through a simple hydrothermal method. The obtained magnetic-fluorescent nanoparticles exhibit high saturation magnetization (17.33 emu g(-1)), excellent luminescence, and high specific surface area (19.04 m(2) g(-1)). N-2 adsorption-desorption and cytotoxicity experiments indicated that the asprepared material has large accessible pore volume (0.16 cm(3) g(-1)) and good biocompatibility, that suggest promising application in drug delivery.
